Story about an Oriental Tarot Card Reader: Living with the Mother-In-Law

An old Oriental story tells of a woman who despaired of her mother-in-law, a crochety old battleaxe with whom she now had to share her home with. Unable to quietly perform Tarot Readings and constantly being called for service, she began to feel her place of sanctuary and peace was invaded.



Full of hate and inner feelings of aggression towards her she visited a local wise woman who brewed poison in order to kill the mother-in-law. She took it home full of uplifting feelings that she will now be able to remove her from her home once and for all. The poison was in the form of an oitment. The old wise woman said it had to be massaged into her mother-in-laws skin once a day for three months. After the three months have passed... she will be dead.



In great delight the lady wandered home with the oitment and immediately suggested she would give her mother-in-law a massage. A whole month went by... then one day she fled to the old wise woman once again sobbing and begging for an antidote. "Please i've realised that I don't want her to die." But the wise woman smiled and said "you already have the cure because the potion I gave you was in fact harmless. From massaging your mother-in-law everyday you have grown closer and now love her. She has also become grateful to you for your kind ways. You cannot massage someone and continue to hate them".
